Hey guys!

Last Christmas I baked an awesome cake. ( Well, I have to say “we” baked because my bff and I did it together! ) We wanted to do something fancier than usual but did not want to tax ourselves too much so we went ahead and baked a zebra cake.

It is a fun cake to bake. Different from the usual easy-bakes, trendy, absolutely beautiful and

Y-U-M-M-Y!

Heres the recipe we followed :

butter, for greasing

large eggs - 4

sugar - 375 g/ 14 oz/ 1.5 cup

milk - 100ml/3½fl oz

sunflower oil - 250ml/9fl oz

vanilla extract - 1 tsp

flour - 475g/ 1 lb 1 oz / 2 cup

baking powder - 1 tsp

cocoa powder - 25 g/ 1 oz/ 0.1 cup

Preheat the oven to 180 C/ 350 F/Gas 4.

Butter a cake tin.

Put the eggs and sugar into a large bowl with

the milk,

oil,

vanilla extract and

175 g/ 6 oz/ 0.75 cup of the flour.

Whisk for a minute or two, until smooth.

Pour half of the mixture into a separate bowl and stir in

½ tsp baking powder and

175 g/ 6 oz/ 0.65 cup flour and set aside.

In another bowl, mix

the cocoa,

125 g/ 5 oz/ 0.5 cup flour and

½ tsp baking powder.

Place two tablespoons of the plain mixture into the centre of the cake tin. Straight away place two tablespoons of the chocolate mixture on top. Now put another two tablespoons of the plain mixture on top of that followed by two tablespoons of the chocolate mixture. Continue doing this until all the mixture has been used – you will end up with lots of alternate rings of mixture in the tin. Don’t worry if it’s not very neat.

Checkout this uber-cool video which inspired me to move my lazy bum and bake for Christmas. It shows how to get the zebra stripes done so well that it literally had me running to the kitchen to start baking.

Cook for 40-50 minutes, until the cake is cooked through ( Easy way to check : a skewer inserted into the centre of the cake should come out clean ).

Its very very easy. So try it, share it and let me know how you liked it! I’m sure you’ll get rad reviews for it, so let me know them :)

Till then, take care and love life!

P.S. All the lovely pics I've used here were clicked by my bff Swathy. She is an awesome photographer. I will link her photography page very soon ❤︎❤︎ Be sure to check it out.
